Safety
Safety is very important to us. We do everything possible to make the Oswald products safe. Every piece of equipment has to pass an extensive inspection and test run before it leaves our facility in Austria. Every part is inspected twice to ensure that it meets the high Oswald quality standards and specifications. Machines used in wood working are dangerous. Particularly when used improperly or without proper safe guards. OSHA has specific standards covering wood working equipment, plus other general regulations that address hazard common to wood working facilities. A list of the general OSHA regulation covering hazards common to wood working facilities is included in appendix A. For a complete guide for protecting workers from Wood Working Hazards go to www.osha.gov/Publications/woodworking_hazards We equip our products with safety switches that will shut off the equipment immediately if somebody tries to get into a hazardous area. We have heavy duty safety cages and guards over moving parts, belts and pulleys. Our system prevents kick-backs and nip points. We even have readings regarding the noise level, and we try to keep it as low as possible. Our warning labels are in English and Spanish and / or symbols. The list would be too long to mention every detail which makes the Oswald equipment safe. Oswald strongly recommends to use a safe and appropriate infeed and discharge system. Oswald offers those specifically designed to its products. Our rounding and profiling machines have plexi glass guards in front to protect the operator from flying chips. Some of our competitors use just wire mash. We think this is not enough to protect our customers. Our systems are also a solution to the hazards of vibration. To address the health issues of wood dust we always strongly recommend using an appropriate dust collection system. But there is only so much we can do. We rely on you and your experienced operators to follow all instructions and OSHA rules. Our safety sheets and instructions are just additional recommendations to OSHA and other regulations. To prevent electric and maintenance hazards, fire and explosion follow the OSHA and Oswald instructions. Sometimes, we bet you agree, a little bit common sense goes a long way. The Oswald equipment has the European CE certifications. The safety requirements are similar to the regulations in North America. Some components, like electric motors and others, are UL listed. It is our goal and commitment to keep the safety standard as high as possible. If you have any additional recommendations, please let us know. Our engineers appreciate every input. |
